BACKGROUND:
The Director of Fire Protection in the Department of Community Development is responsible for conducting inspections of buildings, other than private residences, to ascertain if any fire hazards exist and to require conformance with established fire safety standards. Where the issuance of business operation permits and licenses is contingent upon the successful completion of a fire inspection, the commencement of the business operations may be delayed while awaiting such inspection.
SUMMARY:
The Director of Community Development, through the Director of Fire Protection shall assure that no delays occur in the conduct of inspections required for the issuance of business operation permits and licenses. To avoid any delays, inspection and approval authority may be delegated to local fire protection personnel. Such delegation may be necessitated by the unavailability of the regularly assigned and authorized employee due to termination, resignation, retirement, illness or excessive workload.
