     AN ACT Relating to licensing out-of-state cosmetologists, barbers, and manicurists; amending RCW 18.16.130; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     Sec. 1.  RCW 18.16.130 and 1984 c 208 s 11 are each amended to read as follows:

     Any person who is properly licensed in any state, territory, or possession of the United States, or a foreign country shall be ((issued a license under this chapter without)) eligible for examination if the applicant submits the approved application fee and provides proof to the director that he or she is currently licensed in good standing as a cosmetologist, barber, manicurist, or the equivalent in that jurisdiction ((and has completed a course of training equivalent to that required under this chapter)).  If the person passes the required examination, the director shall issue the appropriate license.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
