     AN ACT Relating to the banning of liquor on college and university campuses and related facilities; adding a new section 66.44 RCW; prescribing penalties; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 66.44 RCW to read as follows:

     It is a misdemeanor for a person, regardless of age, to possess, distribute, or consume liquor within a building, facility, residence, or on property located on a college or university campus.  It is also a misdemeanor for a person to possess, distribute, or consume liquor within, or on the property of, a related living facility.  For purposes of this section, "related living facility" means a building inhabited by members of an organization that assumes the college or university's name as a portion of its own or receives funding from the college or university, and includes, but is not limited to, fraternity and sorority houses.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.      This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
