     AN ACT Relating to civil docket priority for parties over seventy years of age or who are terminally ill; adding a new section to chapter 4.44 RCW; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 4.44 RCW to read as follows:

     When setting civil cases for trial, unless otherwise provided by statute, upon motion of a party, the court shall give priority to cases in which a party is frail and over seventy years of age or is suffering from a terminal illness.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.      This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
