AN ACT Relating to the sale of antifreeze; adding a new section to chapter 70.54 RCW; prescribing penalties; and providing an effective date.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 70.54 RCW to read as follows:
(1) No person may sell automotive antifreeze that is:
(a) Toxic;
(b) Potentially attractive to young children or domestic animals because of its taste or odor; and
(c) Not likely to cause immediate vomiting if ingested.
(2) The secretary of health shall adopt rules establishing standards for the sale of automotive antifreeze under this section.
(3) Selling antifreeze in violation of this section or in violation of rules adopted pursuant to it is a misdemeanor.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1992.
