     AN ACT Relating to involuntary commitment or detention; and adding a new section to chapter 70.96A RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 70.96A RCW to read as follows:

     In a judicial proceeding for involuntary commitment or detention, or in a proceeding challenging a commitment or detention, the prosecuting attorney for the county in which the proceeding was initiated shall represent the individuals and agencies petitioning for commitment or detention and shall defend all challenges to a commitment or detention.
