AN ACT Relating to electrical construction; and adding a new section to chapter 19.28 RCW.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 19.28 RCW to read as follows:
Completion of at least sixteen hours per year of approved continuing education coursework is required prior to the renewal of electrician certificates of competency and electrical training certificates under RCW 19.28.550.
(1) To receive credit for continuing education, the following requirements must be met:
(a) Courses or seminars must have prior approval of curriculum by the state electrical board;
(b) Instructors must be certified by the state electrical board prior to presentation of course or seminar;
(c) Representatives of the department or state electrical board shall be able to attend and monitor the courses or seminars without charge;
(d) Completion certificates for courses or seminars, and the hours attended, shall be attached to the application for certificate renewal for a minimum verification of sixteen hours per year;
(e) In general, the subject matter of the courses or seminars must be the national electrical code or advances in the electrical industry;
(f) Request for approval of courses, seminars, and instructors must be made to the state electrical board no later than the next board meeting preceding the seminar; and
(g) Attendance lists and the hours attended by each person shall be forwarded to the state electrical board by the instructor.
(2) The certificates required by subsection (1)(d) of this section must contain the following:
(a) The date, title, and location of the course;
(b) The duration of the course in number of hours;
(c) The name of the instructor;
(d) The name of the sponsoring agency; and
