WHEREAS, Had the personal exemption kept up with the rate of inflation it would now be over seven thousand dollars a year for each worker and dependent; and
WHEREAS, Families are having an ever more difficult time providing for their children; and
WHEREAS, Senator Coats and Representative Wolfe have placed before the United States congress the Tax Fairness Act for Families (HR 1277-S701), which increases the exemption to thirty-five hundred dollars for each dependent child under eighteen years old;
NOW, THEREFORE, Your Memorialists respectfully pray that the United States Congress pass this family tax act with an exemption for dependent children of at least thirty-five hundred dollars.
BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this Memorial be immediately transmitted to the Honorable George Bush, President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and to each member of Congress from the State of Washington.
