HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4603, by Representatives Morton and Fuhrman
WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Legislature to recognize excellence in all fields of endeavor; and
WHEREAS, The Indians of Reardan High School are the 1990 Class B-11 football champions of the State of Washington; and
WHEREAS, The Indians defeated Rainier High School in an impressive 13 to 3 victory in Kingbowl XIV, December 1, 1990; and
WHEREAS, The hard-hitting Reardan defense held the usually high-scoring Rainier offense to a mere three points; and
WHEREAS, The Reardan offense, working hard against an excellent Rainier defense for every yard and point they got, proved their mettle with thirteen points featuring a six and one-half minute, eighty-seven yard, touchdown-scoring drive toward the end of the game that assured victory; and
WHEREAS, Head Football Coach Gene Smith and his staff should be applauded for their great contributions of time and effort to the teaching profession and especially for their ability to mold students into champions; and
WHEREAS, The team was spurred on by its loyal fans, including the band, who made the long trip for the game; and
WHEREAS, Accomplishments such as these are attained only when parents, faculty, administration, and students come together as a united community and produce a spirit of competition and team effort that cannot be equalled;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the House of Representatives, that the Reardan High School state football champions be commended on their great success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to Principal David Cain and Coach Gene Smith of Reardan High School.
