HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4604, by Representatives Chandler and Hochstatter
WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Legislature to recognize excellence in all fields of endeavor; and
WHEREAS, The Almira-Coulee-Hartline Football Team captured the State Class B-8 High School Football Championship at the Kingbowl on December 1, 1990, in a 48 to 36 defeat of Colton High School; and
WHEREAS, This championship was the culmination of an excellent 11-1 season, including an upset of number one ranked, defending champion Odessa in the semi-finals; and
WHEREAS, Teamwork was a key element in the Almira-Coulee-Hartline victory, with the team ending up with over one hundred yards of total offense and nine and one-half minutes of possession more than Colton; and
WHEREAS, The fourteen Seniors on the twenty-seven man team should be especially praised for their efforts; and
WHEREAS, The victory featured great play by all team members, including All-State Honor offensive and defensive lineman Dave Kees, and quarterback Tim Hunsaker, who broke several Kingbowl records including most touchdowns in a game; and
WHEREAS, the character, discipline, and sportsmanship of the team is a tribute to its coaching staff and school faculty, especially Head Coach Bill Penrose; and
WHEREAS, The loyal support of the Almira-Coulee-Hartline fans of the team community is highly appreciated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the Almira-Coulee-Hartline Football Team for winning the 1990 State Football Championship; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend the players, coaches, students, teachers, and staff of Almira-Coulee-Hartline for their dedicated efforts in creating and maintaining Almira-Coulee-Hartline as a championship community, producing athletes for today and leaders for tomorrow; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to Coach Bill Penrose of Almira-Coulee-Hartline for communication to the community.
