HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4622, by Representatives Rasmussen, Ebersole, Broback, Brumsickle, Dorn, Franklin, Fraser, Schmidt, Tate, Vance, Wang and Winsley

 

     WHEREAS, Nearly eight thousand five hundred brave men and women from Washington state, both on active duty and from the reserves, are now involved in Operation Desert Storm; and

     WHEREAS, These men and women have been deployed from:

     (1) Fort Lewis Army Post;

     (2) McChord and Fairchild Air Force Bases;

     (3) Bremerton Naval Hospital;

     (4) The USS Sacramento, based out of Bremerton;

     (5) Whidbey Naval Air Station;

     (6) The Washington Air and Army National Guard; and

     (7) The Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine reserve component in Washington state; and

     WHEREAS, These troops are dedicating their lives to protect and defend the principles of the United States of America and to free the people of Kuwait from tyranny and injustice; and

     WHEREAS, Our troops are valiantly paying the price for the freedom, justice, and democracy that we hold so dear; and

     WHEREAS, Their families, friends, and loved ones live each day hoping for their safe return;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of Representatives commend and honor the troops from Washington state, sends its comfort and support to their families, and wish them Godspeed in the success of their mission and their safe return home; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the appropriate commanding officers of the Washington state forces deployed in the Persian Gulf.
