HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4631, by Representative Belcher

 

      WHEREAS, Credit unions are financial organizations dedicated to meeting the personal needs of their member owners who govern them, democratically and impartially deciding, independent of commercial interest, how best to help each other; and

      WHEREAS, Credit unions are committed to the continuation of a cooperative philosophy that brings people together to find practical solutions to individual problems, extending into the community and contributing to the improvement of conditions for everyone; and

      WHEREAS, Credit unions operate independent of commercial interests, are founded not for profit but for the benefit of their members to ensure freedom of choice and to support individual member needs in financial dealings; and

      WHEREAS, Credit unions are part of a network offering support and counsel to a broad economic base whose concerns are shared through a common bond of association; and

      WHEREAS, Credit unions are democratic, unified institutions with just cause to be unencumbered by commercial pressure, and remain a unique, independent financial alternative;

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Washington does hereby declare February 28, 1991, as Credit Union Operation Grassroots Day in the State of Washington.
