HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4646, by Representatives Cooper and Morris.

     WHEREAS, A trip to the State Class AA Basketball Tournament is the culmination of a dream for an AA high school basketball team; and

     WHEREAS, Only three times in AA tournament history has a school sent both boys' and girls' teams to the state final; and

     WHEREAS, This year, that honor belonged to the Battle Ground Tigers; and

     WHEREAS, The Tigers have fielded back-to-back championship teams in the state's AA basketball tournament; and

     WHEREAS, Following last year's victory by the Tiger boys' team, the Tiger girls this year won the State Class AA Girls' Basketball title in the Tacoma Dome on Saturday, March 9; and

     WHEREAS, During the final game, Battle Ground brought home a victory over Clarkston with a 52-46 win, finishing the season with an impressive record of 24 wins and just 2 losses; and

     WHEREAS, The Tigers won the title in only their second appearance in the state tournament; and

     WHEREAS, Battle Ground played with teamwork and tenacity, never letting up in their quest for victory;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Washington recognize winning team members Mindy Alexander, Jamie Behrens, Jessica Berry, Karen Brotherton, Amy Carter, Johanna Gambill, Carla Idsinga, Liz Linster, Val McKie, Anne Phillips, Jenny Seal, and Shannon Taylor and applaud their achievement; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives also recognize and commend the leadership of Coach Jim Kalian in guiding his team to victory, along with assistant coaches Nancy Morris and Karla Haddock; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Amy Carter is applauded and so recognized by the House of Representatives for being named to the all tournament team, and that she, her team, her coaches, and their school are commended for their team spirit and for their triumph; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the members and coaches of the Battle Ground Tigers team.
