HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4653, by Representatives Nealey and Prince
WHEREAS, Team sports provide the participants with opportunities to develop and enhance their physical agility, mental alertness, independence, cooperation, personal goal setting, and the ability to work with others for a common good; and
WHEREAS, The Tekoa-Oakesdale High School basketball team members have displayed these characteristics in leading their school to victory as the 1990-91 Class "B" State Champions; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Tekoa-Oakesdale High School basketball team, Cher Brammer, Laura Burke, Katie Crider, Emily French, Jennifer Hansen, Tanya Kilpatrick, Tina Rasmussen, Rachel Reisenaur, Jeanne Roellich, Nancy Roellich, Dawn Rose, and Debbie Taylor, have earned a team grade point average of 3.64, one of the highest in the state; and
WHEREAS, The Tekoa-Oakesdale High School basketball team has demonstrated their perseverance and dedication by compiling the following record: Whitman County League Championship; District Nine Championship; and Class "B" State Championship; and
WHEREAS, The Tekoa-Oakesdale High School basketball team has finished no lower than third place in the Girls B State Tournament for the past five seasons; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach John Jaeger and Assistant Coach Ron Sharp have guided the Tekoa-Oakesdale High School basketball team to a record of twenty-five wins and three losses this season; and
WHEREAS, Three team members have been chosen for the following honors: Katie Crider, First Team All-State and All-League; Jeanne Roellich, Second Team All-State and All-League; and Emily French, All-League; and
WHEREAS, These records and accomplishments could not have been achieved without the support, cooperation, and participation of every team member; and
WHEREAS, The students and faculty of Tekoa-Oakesdale High School contributed to the success of the team by showing their support of the athletes and cheering the team on to victory;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and honor Tekoa-Oakesdale High School's 1990-91 winning basketball team, the students, coaches, and teachers; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the coaches and players of the Tekoa-Oakesdale High School basketball team, the Tekoa Principal John Jaeger, and the Oakesdale Principal Bud Gibson.
