HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 91-4697, by Representatives Ferguson, Horn, Betrozoff, Van Luven, May, Miller, Holland and Forner.

 

     WHEREAS, The Washington Summer Games, "A Games for All People," provides amateur athletes of all ages one of the most exciting and valuable experiences of life; and

     WHEREAS, Participants in the Washington State Games always exhibit the highest level of sportsmanship and athletic ability, and this summer's games promise to provide even more excitement; and

     WHEREAS, The Games are designed to allow for participants of all ages, and include events that allow for the participation of persons with disabilities; and

     WHEREAS, The 1991 Games will be held in the beautiful, congenial communities of Kirkland, the city of parks; Bellevue, the city in a park; Redmond, the bicycle capital of the world; and Issaquah, the "Trail-Head" city; and

     WHEREAS, The 1991 Summer Games Organizing Committee, chaired by Faris Taylor of Bellevue, is comprised solely of volunteers who work tirelessly at keeping the spirit of the Games alive; and

     WHEREAS, The Organizing Committee members include:  Steve Spitzer, Marketing and Managing Director; Jerry Oldani, Co-Chair; Ted Mittelstaedt, Facilities and Equipment; Major Paul Olson, Security; Dave Ravet, Local Marketing and Sponsorship; Roger Ringstad, Accommodations; Marty Boggs, Physically Disabled Athletes and Sports; Pat Sheffels, Protocol; Frank Troutman, Communications; Jim Gregg, Food Services; Sonja Alexander, Risk Management; Dr. Richard Angelo, Medical Services; Eric Gleason, Transportation; Rob Hunt, Ceremonies; Walter Kilgore, Promotions and P.R.; Dorothy Knitter, Administration; and Jerry Knitter, Operations Manager; and

     WHEREAS, The Washington State Games Foundation is carrying on the legacy of amateur games that are promoted and carried out by countless volunteers, recruited and organized by Pat McGlashan of Issaquah; and

     WHEREAS, The citizens of Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and Issaquah are providing their utmost support and hospitality in hosting the 1991 Summer Games;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives support the Washington State Games and recognize and honor the Washington State Games Organizing Committee for all its success in staging these outstanding events; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to Faris Taylor, Chair of the 1991 Washington State Summer Games.
