AN ACT Relating to the establishment of a deadline for a decision on an application to withdraw ground water; and adding a new section to chapter 90.44 RCW.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 90.44 RCW to read as follows:
The department shall make a decision as to the approval or denial of a permit to withdraw ground water applied for pursuant to RCW 90.44.050 within nine months of the date of receipt of the application by the department. For the purpose of implementing this section, applications filed with the department prior to the effective date of this act shall be considered to be applied for on the effective date of this act.
The department may make temporary changes in assignments to employees to accomplish the purposes of the section.
