Providing for proportional payment of auto liability insurance for certain state employees.

     AN ACT Relating to state employee automobile liability insurance; and adding a new section to chapter 43.03 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.03 RCW to read as follows:

     (1) A full-time, permanent state employee covered by either chapter 41.06 or 28B.16 RCW who is required as a condition of employment to have an automobile and use it in the performance of his or her duties shall have a proportion of their automobile liability insurance paid.  The proportion shall be based on the amount of miles driven on state business, and the state shall pay deductibles in the event of an accident that occurs in the performance of official duties.

     (2) The director of financial management shall by rule adopt the proportion of auto liability insurance to be paid based on the amount of miles driven on state business.
