     AN ACT Relating to the residential landlord-tenant act; and adding a new section to chapter 59.18 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 59.18 RCW to read as follows:

     Tenants whose rents are subsidized by the federal government in rental housing specifically designed or designated for low-income, elderly, or handicapped persons are to be charged not more than fifty dollars for a pet deposit when the pet is initially brought onto the premises and subsequent monthly payments not to exceed ten dollars until the full amount of the deposit is paid.

     Tenants whose rents are not subsidized and whose incomes are high enough to make them ineligible for rent subsidy shall not be required to pay more than one hundred dollars initially, and subsequent monthly payments not to exceed thirty dollars per month until the full amount of the deposit is paid.
