AN ACT Relating to the general fund‑-state operating budget on higher education; and adding a new section to chapter 43.88 RCW.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 43.88 RCW to read as follows:
(1) Beginning with the 1992-93 fiscal year and each fiscal year thereafter, the percentage of the general fund--state operating budget for higher education shall be increased by a minimum of one percent until the percentage of the general fund--state operating budget for higher education is at or above eighteen percent.
(2) Once the percentage of the general fund--state operating budget for higher education is at or above eighteen percent, the percentage level shall not fall below eighteen percent of the general fund--state operating budget for higher education.
