AN ACT Relating to the recreational and commercial sturgeon fishery; adding a new section to chapter 75.25 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 75.30 RCW.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 75.25 RCW to read as follows:
The legislature finds that sturgeon are a valuable fishery resource that are potentially vulnerable to overfishing. In order to preserve the sturgeon broodstock it is unlawful to fish for or retain sturgeon from Bonneville Dam on the Columbia river downstream to Cape Horn, in the Beacon Rock area, from April 1 to June 30 of each year.
