Read first time 01/14/92.  Referred to Committee on Governmental Operations.Requiring that the director of fire protection assure that no delays occur in the conduction of inspections required for the issuance of business permits and licenses.


     AN ACT Relating to fire inspections required for the issuance of business operation permits and licenses; and adding a new section to chapter 48.48 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.48 RCW to read as follows:

     The director of community development, through the director of fire protection, or his or her authorized deputy, shall assure that no delays occur in the conduct of inspections required for the issuance of business operation permits and licenses.  If necessary, the director of community development, through the director of fire protection, or his or her authorized deputy, shall promptly delegate such inspection and approval authority to local fire protection personnel.  Such necessity may include, but not be limited to, situations in which:  (1) The regularly assigned and authorized employee has been terminated, has resigned or retired, or due to illness or other cause is unable to promptly complete required inspections; or (2) the volume of required inspections has increased to the point where the regularly assigned and authorized employee cannot promptly complete the work.
