     AN ACT Relating to payment of debt; and adding a new section to chapter 26.16 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 26.16 RCW to read as follows:

     For all debts incurred by either husband or wife during the existence of the marital community, upon the dissolution of the marital community and the assignment by court order, decree, or judgment of responsibility for debts in existence at the time of the order, creditors may obtain payment for such assigned debts only from the individual to whom responsibility for the debt was assigned in the court's final order on dissolution of the marital community.
