     AN ACT Relating to licenses for private detective agencies; and adding a new section to chapter 18.165 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 18.165 RCW to read as follows:

     (1) The fee for a license issued to a private detective agency may not exceed twenty-five dollars if the agency employs fewer than two persons licensed under this chapter in a calendar year.

     (2) If an agency meets the criteria set forth in subsection (1) of this section, no fee may be charged for a license issued to an individual under RCW 18.165.040 or 18.165.050, as long as:  (a) The person is employed by the agency; (b) the person is employed by no other agency; and (c) the agency neither employs, nor regularly contracts with, another person licensed under this chapter.

     (3) If any of the criteria set forth in subsection (1) or (2) of this section ceases to be met, the remaining provisions of this chapter become applicable immediately.
