     AN ACT Relating to the Washington state teachers' retirement system; and adding a new section to chapter 41.32 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.32 RCW to read as follows:

     A member may elect under this section to count years of employment as an instructor or administrative officer in a private elementary or secondary educational institution solely for the purpose of determining the time at which the member may retire.  The benefit shall be actuarially reduced to recognize the difference between the age a member would have first been able to retire based on service earned under this chapter and the member's retirement age.
