     AN ACT Relating to a pilot program of monetary fines; and adding a new section to chapter 2.56 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 2.56 RCW to read as follows:

     The administrator for the courts shall manage a pilot monetary fines program in a minimum of two jurisdictions.  The administrator shall consult with the sentencing guidelines commission in the design of the pilot program.  The administrator shall establish a separate account to pay for the operation of the pilot program and shall place a portion of monetary fines collected into the account.
