WHEREAS, More and more Washington State businesses are benefiting from the experience, knowledge, and achievements of older workers; and
WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of the State of Washington to ensure that people have equal employment opportunities, regardless of age; and
WHEREAS, Older workers make significant contributions to the growth and development of our State; and
WHEREAS, Older workers have the right to seek a viable place in the work force; and
WHEREAS, All persons learn invaluable skills and knowledge from older workers; and
WHEREAS, The Washington State Senate has a history of employing older workers; and
WHEREAS, The Washington State Senate would like to join businesses throughout the country in celebrating National Employ the Older Worker Week from March 10, 1991, through March 16, 1991; and
WHEREAS, National Employ the Older Worker Week is an appropriate time to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of our older workers and the businesses that employ mature workers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State Senate recognize and honor older workers' contributions in industry and government; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Mr. Walt Gordon with NETWORK's Mature Worker Program in Vancouver, Washington.
