HB 1388 - DIGEST

      Provides that, after July 1, 1991, a person may not use, sell, or distribute a laundry detergent that contains 0.5 percent or more phosphorus by weight.

      Limits the phosphorus percentage by weight in dishwasher detergents to 8.7 percent after July 1, 1991, to 6 percent after July 1, 1993, and to 4 percent after July 1, 1995.

      Makes a violation of the prohibitions a misdemeanor offense with a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars.
