HB 1537 - DIGEST

      Establishes the office of the children's services ombuds in the department of community development.

      Directs the ombuds to investigate a complaint from any citizen relating to administrative acts of the department, regardless if the act is final.

      Requires maintenance of a toll-free telephone line to receive complaints.

      Authorizes the ombuds to prepare findings and recommendations and to assist in resolving any disputes.

      Repeals RCW 26.44.070.

      Makes an appropriation of two hundred fifty thousand dollars to carry out the purposes of the act.
