HB 1700 - DIGEST

      Provides that, except in a medical emergency, no abortion shall be performed upon an unemancipated, pregnant minor unless she has given written consent and has notified her parents or guardian.

      Establishes procedures for situations when the parent or guardian cannot be located.

      Establishes procedures for any necessary court proceedings.

      Requires the development of statistical data relating to the protection of the minor and parents.

      Provides a criminal penalty for violations of the act.
