HB 2606 - DIGEST

 

      Establishes procedures to provide safety for all persons using the highways of the state by quickly suspending or revoking the driving privilege of those persons who have shown themselves to be safety hazards by driving with an excessive concentration of alcohol in their bodies.

      Provides for an administrative review prior to the effective date of the suspension or revocation.

      Revises penalty provisions.

      Authorizes a provisional driver's license for purposes of participation in an alcohol or drug abuse treatment program.

      Requires a study of the effectiveness of the program with a report due thirty months after the effective date of the act.

      Makes an appropriation of an unspecified amount to carry out the purposes of the act.
