SB 5229 - DIGEST

      Specifies the areas and periods of time for closure of fishing for Pacific cod.

      Provides that persons violating the restrictions shall be subject to penalty under RCW 75.10.110.

      Requires the director of fisheries to work with the national marine fisheries service to seek control of sea mammals that are predators of Pacific cod.

      Requires the director to assess the population levels of walleye pollack, ling cod, and other Puget Sound species that could be endangered and propose conservation measures.
