SB 5688 - DIGEST

      Creates a consumer protection commission and specifies its powers and duties, including the authority to hold hearings and issue subpoenas.

      Provides the authority to enforce the subpoenas to the superior courts.

      Prohibits discrimination against any person for opposing a violation of consumer protection laws, and prohibits the incitement of a commission of a violation of the consumer protection laws.

      Authorizes the commission to issue cease and desist orders for violations of the act, provides for hearings on the orders, and for a final order and disposition of the alleged violations.

      Provides civil and criminal penalties for violations of the act.
