      Establishes the circumstances when a consumer reporting agency may appropriately furnish a consumer report.

      Establishes the circumstances when a consumer report may be used in employment and credit determination situations.

      Provides disclosure requirements on consumer reporting agencies upon receipt of a request from the consumer.

      Designates procedures for correction of information contained in consumer reports.

      Establishes penalties for violations of the act.
