SB 6341 - DIGEST

 

      Establishes a state-wide jail industries board of directors to develop standards for the consistent, safe, and efficient operation of jail industries.

      Designates the responsibilities of the cities and counties which implement a jail industry program.

      Establishes parameters for free venture industries (Class I), for tax reduction industries (Class II), for jail support industries (Class III), and for community work industries (Class IV).

      Requires inmates who receive a wage for work in a jail industry program to contribute toward the reduction of costs of corrections.

      Extends industrial insurance coverage to inmates working in Class I or II industries.
