     On page 5, line 11, after "programs" insert ", if the employee is a member of a union-sponsored retirement plan and is making contributions to such a retirement plan"

EFFECT:  This amendment will exclude persons enrolled in a state-approved apprenticeship program who are also members of a union-sponsored retirement plan from membership in PERS.  Consequently, the employee will not be required to make contributions to two retirement systems.
