    On page 2, line 7, after "self defense," strike "no award may be made" and insert "an award may be denied"

    On page 2, line 19, after "this section." insert "If the trier of fact determines the defendant acted in self-defense and was involved in criminal conduct substantially related to the events giving rise to the crime with which the defendant is charged, the judge, in determining whether an award should be made, shall also consider the seriousness level of the initial criminal conduct."
