BACKGROUND:

 

The International Marketing Program for Agricultural Commodities and Trade (IMPACT) at Washington State University was created to address international marketing problems and opportunities and to provide related instruction, all with an emphasis on practical solutions to problems.

 

The program was created on a provisional basis in 1984 and given permanent status in 1985.  Absent further legislation, the IMPACT Center will terminate on June 30, 1996.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The IMPACT Center at Washington State University is removed from termination under the Sunset Act.

TESTIMONY FOR:

 

Considerable time and expense was involved in undergoing the sunset review process that could have been spent on resolving issues relating to agricultural product marketing.  The recently completed sunset review indicated positive accomplishments of the Impact Center.
