Brief Description:  Establishing fishing guide licenses for Oregon residents.

BACKGROUND:

 

Professional salmon guides are licensed by the Department of Fisheries.  Licenses are required in freshwater rivers and streams except in the Columbia River below the Longview bridge.  The annual fees are $50 for residents and $500 for non-residents.  A surcharge of $20 for residents and $100 for non-residents is assessed for regional fisheries enhancement groups.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Oregonians will pay resident salmon guide license fees if they are licensed guides in Oregon and if Oregon charges resident fees of Washington guides applying for their licenses.

 

Salmon guide licenses are issued to persons, not vessels.
