Brief Description:  Increasing the length of terms for appointed members of the council for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

BACKGROUND:

 

The Washington Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect was created in 1982 for the purpose of contracting with, public and private, groups and individuals to establish community-based educational and service programs relating to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

 

Four of the council members appointed by the Governor serve terms of two years.  The other three appointed members serve three-year terms.  It is suggested that all of the appointed members' terms should be extended to three years.

 

SUMMARY:

 

All of the appointed members of the Washington Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect serve three-year terms.
