BACKGROUND:

The 1993 Legislature passed SHB 2055, which merges the departments of Fisheries and Wildlife into the Department of Fish and Wildlife, effective July 1, 1994.  Numerous references in statute to each department need to be changed to reflect the new agency name.  The Legislature also passed ESSB 5868, which merges the Department of Trade and Economic Development and the Department of Community Development into the Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development, also effective July 1, 1994.

SUMMARY:

All references to either the Department of Fisheries or the Department of Wildlife are changed to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.  References to the Department of Community Development and the Department of Trade and Economic Development are changed to the Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development.  Gender neutral language is substituted for existing language where applicable, and other minor technical corrections are made.
