BACKGROUND:

 

Any person who operates an unsafe vehicle or one that is improperly equipped is guilty of a traffic infraction.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Motorists stopped for minor equipment deficiencies shall be given at least 10 days to correct the problem.  If the equipment is not fixed within the time period specified on the repair notice, a traffic infraction shall be issued.

 

When the defective equipment poses an imminent danger to the driver or others, the motorist may be prohibited from driving that vehicle until it is repaired.
