SENATE COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS
Majority Report: Do pass.
Signed by Senators Haugen, Chairman; Drew, Vice Chairman; Loveland, Oke, Owen and Winsley.
Staff: Rod McAulay (786‑7754)
Hearing Dates: January 27, 1993; February 2, 1993; January 14, 1994
BACKGROUND:
In 1977 the Legislature abolished the state Printing and Duplicating Committee which had oversight of printing and duplicating activities in the Department of General Administration, the Office of Financial Management and the office of the State Printer. The responsibilities of this committee were consolidated as a department within the Department of General Administration named the "printing and duplicating center." By statute, "all powers, duties and functions of the printing and duplicating center" ceased to exist on June 30, 1981. By January 31, 1981, the center was required to submit to the 47th Legislature recommendations regarding "functional disposition of the center's responsibilities."
The state Law Revision Commission, pursuant to its authority to recommend change or repeal of antiquated statutes, recommends the repeal of the act establishing the printing and duplicating center.
SUMMARY:
The statutory provisions establishing the printing and duplicating center as a department within the Department of General Administration and providing for its termination on June 30, 1981 are repealed.
