BACKGROUND:
All trucks are required by law to stop at a scale house that is open and submit to weighing. The Washington State Patrol may, at the same time, inspect the vehicle equipment, check the hours of service and driver qualifications, and see that the proper permits have been obtained.
A unladen log truck is required to stop at a weigh station, even though it is visibly obvious that the vehicle is empty.
SUMMARY:
Empty log trucks are exempt from the weighing provisions of the Washington State Patrol.
