SENATE COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION
Staff: Susan Mielke (786‑7439)
Hearing Dates: February 24, 1993
BACKGROUND:
Currently, educational service districts (ESDs) have regional committees on school district organization, whose members serve staggered terms of office that last for five years. Approximately one-fifth of the members are elected annually by the members of the boards of directors of school districts in the ESD. Biennial elections will eliminate an administrative burden with no corresponding loss in effectiveness.
SUMMARY:
The election of regional committee members shall occur every even-numbered year.
Appropriation: none
Revenue: none
