BACKGROUND:

 

Under present law, the principal management and control of the Washington Public Power Supply System rests with an 11-member Executive Board.  The Executive Board consists of five "inside" members who are elected from the Board of Directors and six "outside" members who are not elected from the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors and the Governor are each authorized to appoint three of the outside members.

 

The compensation paid to inside members of the Executive Board is determined by the Board of Directors of the operating agency.  The compensation paid to outside members is determined by the Governor.  Both inside and outside members of the Executive Board are compensated at the rate of $500 per meeting.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The compensation of the Executive Board is limited to $50 a day.
