BACKGROUND:

 

The state Professional Athletic Commission is composed of three members appointed by the Governor.  The commission oversees professional athletics in the state, including the granting and revocation of licenses.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The state Professional Athletic Commission is abolished.  Its powers, duties, and functions are transferred to the Department of Licensing (DOL).  All records or written material and office property are provided to DOL, as well as any funds, credits, assets or appropriations.

 

All commission employees are under DOL jurisdiction.  Existing contracts and obligations remain in full force and are performed by DOL.

 

Definitions and wording are changed to reflect the transfer in power from the abolished commission to DOL.  The requirement that commissioners obtain surety bonds is repealed.  Also repealed are the meetings and records requirements.
