HOUSE COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS

 

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The state government operates on a fiscal biennium that begins on July 1 of each odd-numbered year.  Funds for the 1993-95 operations of the agencies and institutions of state government were appropriated during the 1993 legislative session (Chapter 24, Laws of 1993 sp. sess.).  Proposals for supplemental appropriations are considered during legislative sessions in even-numbered years.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Appropriations from the state General Fund and other dedicated funds and accounts for the 1993-95 fiscal biennium for the operations of state agencies and institutions are modified.  Net appropriations from the General Fund are $118 million in the supplemental budget.  Total biennial General Fund expenditures are $16.25 billion.

Effective Date:  The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.

 

HOUSE AMENDMENT(S):

 

Appropriations from various funds and accounts are modified.  Net new appropriations from the General Fund are $160 million.  Total biennial General Fund appropriations are $16.3 billion.
