Brief Description:  Requiring the governor prepare a plan to reorganize the office of the superintendent of public instruction.

BACKGROUND:

 

If approved at the next general election, SJR 8222 would abolish the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

 

SUMMARY:

 

This act takes effect if SJR 8222 is approved at the next general election.

 

The Governor must prepare a reorganization plan to assimilate the functions of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.  The plan must be submitted to the Legislature by November 1, 1995, and shall require the Legislature to take action during the 1996 legislative session.  The reorganization takes effect January 13, 1997.
