BACKGROUND:

If approved at the next general election, SJR 8224 would abolish the Office of State Treasurer.

SUMMARY:

The act takes effect if SJR 8224 is approved at the next general election.

The Governor must prepare a reorganization plan to assimilate the functions of the Office of the State Treasurer.  The plan must be submitted to the Legislature by November 1, 1995, and shall require the Legislature to take action during the 1996 legislative session.  The reorganization takes effect January 13, 1997.
