AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON LABOR & COMMERCE, JANUARY 28, 1994
Brief Description: Correcting multiple amendments related to public employees' collective bargaining.
SPONSORS: Senators Prentice, Amondson, Fraser and Winsley
SENATE COMMITTEE ON LABOR & COMMERCE
Majority Report: Do pass.
Signed by Senators Moore, Chairman; Prentice, Vice Chairman; Amondson, Deccio, Fraser, McAuliffe, Newhouse, Pelz, Sellar, Sutherland, Vognild and Wojahn.
Staff: Jonathan Seib (786‑7427)
Hearing Dates: January 25, 1994; January 28, 1994
BACKGROUND:
In 1993, certain sections of the Public Employees Collective Bargaining Act were amended multiple times, each without reference to the other. As a result, these sections are printed in the RCW multiple times, with each reiteration reflecting a different amendment. This creates confusion and a greater potential for conflict.
SUMMARY:
The intent of the Legislature not to make any substantive change in the law is stated. Sections previously subject to multiple amendment are merged. Internal references are corrected.
